There may be various reasons why you are not able to log in.

Below are instructions for logging in with ID-porten and instructions for logging in with email and password.

No, you cannot log in to My page using MinID. You can log in via ID-porten using BankID, Commfides or BuyPass – or you can use your email address and password.

UDI requires a higher level of security for logging in through ID-porten than MinID can provide. Therefore, we use BankID, Commfides, and BuyPass (level: High) instead of MinID (level: Substantial). This is to ensure the best possible protection of your data.

If you log in using ID-porten, you will get access to more functionality than if you log in with email.

Functionality available to everyone:

• View applications you have started, submitted, or that have been processed
• Submit a new application (via udi.no)
• Send documents
• Book an appointment
• Pay the application fee
• See which documents you need to bring to your appointment

Functionality only available with ID-porten:

• See your contact information registered with UDI
• See information about your residence and whether you have the right to work in Norway
• Download a PDF confirming your legal residence and right to work
• See information about your children’s residence
• Download a PDF confirming your children’s legal residence

We recommend logging in with ID-porten if you can. This allows you to use My page for yourself and your children under 18.

If you are using My page to apply on behalf of someone else (not yourself or your children), we recommend logging in with email and password. Never share your electronic ID with others.

No, it is not possible to migrate content from one user account to another.

When you log in with ID-porten, this is a new user account in the same way as if you have different user accounts with different e-mail addresses.

We recommend that you log out when you are done using My page. You can easily log out by pressing the "Log out" button.

You will be automatically logged out after a certain amount of time, but to avoid leaking your personal information it is recommended that you log out. This is especially important if you share a computer with someone else.

To use ID-porten to log in to My page at UDI, you must either have a BankID, Buypass or Commfides (Norwegian electronic ID). You cannot log in with MinID. This is because UDI requires a higher security level (level 4) for logging in with ID-porten than what MinID has (level 3). We do this to secure your personal data as best as possible.

No. You can log in to My page either with ID-porten or with your e-mail address and password.

Logging in with ID-porten offers several advantages, and we therefore recommend that everyone who can use ID-porten does this. The exception may be if you are going to apply on behalf of another person.

Logging in using ID-porten offers several advantages:

• Provides extra security so that no one else can access your information
• Access to all the services on My page
• No need to remember the email and password you have used at UDI

Services that are only available if you log in with ID-porten:

• You can see your contact information registered with UDI
• You can see information about your residency in Norway and whether you have the right to work
• You can download a PDF with a confirmation that you have legal residency and the right to work
• You can see information about your children’s residence
• You can download a PDF with a confirmation that your children have legal residency
• Future services that may simplify the application process for you

If you are applying on behalf of someone else, we recommend logging in using email and password. If you use ID-porten, only you will have access to the application. You should never share your electronic ID with other people. 

Applying on the behalf of a close family member?  

If you are applying on behalf of a close family member, such as your child, it can be convenient to use ID-porten. If you use ID-porten, you are responsible for the whole application process, from beginning until it has been processed. This includes, among other things, booking the appointment with the police/SUA.  

You can apply on behalf of people under the age of 18. You can view your children’s residency and download confirmation of their residency (PDF) on My page. 

1. Select "Log in to My page" and press Registrer deg nå ("Register now") at the bottom of the login window.
2. Enter your email address and press Send bekreftelseskode ("Send verification code").
3. Within a few minutes, you will receive an email with a code. You must copy this code and paste it into the login window to activate your user profile. The code is only valid for a few minutes.
4. Choose a password that meets the requirements below and enter your name.

The password must contain at least:

• eight characters
• one capital letter
• one lower-case letter
• one number

The password cannot contain:

• special characters such as @, % or &
• the letters æ, ø or å
• letters that are not in the Latin alphabet

You should not use tools that suggest or automatically create passwords for you. This is because these passwords often contain characters mentioned above.

If nothing happens when you press "Create user account", you should try to choose another password that meets the requirements above. If you have a character in your password that our login does not accept, you will not be able to log in.

1. Click the "Log in to My Page" (external website) button and press Har du glemt passordet? ("Forgot your password?") in the login window.
2. Enter your email address and press Send bekreftelseskode ("Send verification code").
3. Within a few minutes, you will receive an email. In the email there is a verification code. You must copy this code and paste it into the login window to activate your user profile. The code is only valid for a few minutes.
4. Choose a new password that meets the requirements below.

The password must contain at least:

• eight characters
• one capital letter
• one lower-case letter
• one number

The password cannot contain:

• special characters such as @, % or &
• the letters æ, ø or å
• letters that are not in the Latin alphabet

If you are not receiving the email with the verification code, try this:

1. Check the junk or spam folder in your inbox
2. Make sure you have entered the correct email address

The verification code is only valid for a short time. If you take too long to log in, request a new code.

If you get an error message when trying to log in with your email and password, try this:

• Use a different internet browser
• Log in from another computer, phone, or tablet
• Change your password
• Create or switch user account (only if you are starting a new application)

In the login window, you should always try to click on “Forgotten your password?” and choose a new password, to check if this solves the problem. If your account does not exist anymore, you will get a message which says that there is no account registered with this email address. 

There might be different reasons why you have lost access to your account. 

• If you have not been logged into your account for over two years, we have deleted it.
• If you have forgotten the password to the account and you no longer have access to the email address you used to create your account, you will not be able to access your account. In that case, you must create a new account. 

Even if you have lost access to your account, any applications and information you submitted earlier will still be in our systems.

If you who have sent in an application

If you have booked an appointment, your booking is still valid. When you booked the appointment, you received an email with a confirmation of the time and date. You can search for this email in your email account. If you cannot find this email, please check the spam filter.

If you encounter problems and you are unable to find the details of your appointment, please contact the meeting point for your appointment: the police, the Service Centre for Foreign Workers (SUA), the embassy or the VFS Application Centre.

If you have already handed in your application documents, we will process your application as normal, and you will not need to do anything more with your user account. If you have Digipost (external website), you will receive the decision there. Otherwise, you will receive it by regular post.

If you have submitted an application, but not yet booked an appointment, you have two choices. You can either contact the meeting point which you selected in your application and ask for an appointment or you can create a new user account and send in a new application. If you paid a fee for your first application, you may contact the meeting point to request a refund.

If you are going to send in a new application

If you are going to fill in and submit a new application, you can either use a different account if you have access to one or you can create a new account.

If you have received a response to your application and you are going to book an appointment with the police for the purpose of taking a photo for your residence card, you must use the same account that you used when you registered your application from. If you no longer have access to this account, you must contact the police to make an appointment
